ASA International in Kenya organized a wonderful community event at Kyaume Primary and Junior Secondary Schools in Tala, Machakos County, with the support of the Office of the MCA for Tala Ward and Machakos County Executive Committee Members.

✨During the event, 1,885 exercise books were donated to 314 learners — enough to support them for a full school year.

🌸In partnership with Real Relief in Kenya, 250 girls received Safepad packages, each containing reusable sanitary pads that last 3–4 years. This innovation helps reduce household costs for sanitary products and minimizes school absenteeism, ensuring girls can continue their education with dignity and confidence.

Our colleague Muna Mohamed also led a session on menstrual hygiene, introducing the features of Safepad: antimicrobial protection, reusability of up to 100 times, and suitability for both urban and rural environments with limited water access.

We were inspired by the learners’ dedication to their education and their commitment to tackling community challenges such as the shortage of school materials.

This initiative is a strong example of how partnerships, innovation, and local leadership can work hand in hand to support education and menstrual health.
