Empowering Afghan Women: Local Manufacturing of Safepad Leads the Way in Kabul

Kabul, Afghanistan – In a powerful step toward economic inclusion and gender empowerment, a recent event hosted by Global Women Trade spotlighted the increasing role of Afghan women in the private sector — with a strong focus on locally driven, socially impactful initiatives.

Among the highlights was a presentation by Mrs. Zala Ahmad, founder of Safe Path Property and a key partner in the production of Safepad in Afghanistan. Speaking at the event, Mrs. Ahmad shared the remarkable journey of how Safepad — a reusable, antimicrobial menstrual pad — is now being manufactured in Kabul, by women of Afghanistan, for women of Afghanistan.

The initiative represents more than just a supply chain milestone. It is a bold response to the dual challenge of menstrual hygiene and women’s limited access to economic opportunities. By training and employing local women to produce Safepads, the project is not only addressing a critical health need but also providing dignified, sustainable employment in a country where opportunities for women remain scarce and hard-won.

The collaboration between Real Relief and Safe Path Property stands as a testament to the power of inclusive manufacturing, grassroots leadership, and purpose-driven partnerships. It also sends a strong message: when women are empowered to lead and produce, the impact resonates far beyond their immediate communities.
