“It represents a long-term commitment to menstrual dignity, local empowerment, and ensuring no girl is held back by her period.”
A Shared Effort for Lasting Impact
This initiative is part of a broader menstrual health and hygiene program led by WaterAid Sweden, WaterAid Nigeria, and supported by the Danish government through DANIDA. Together, we are working to improve menstrual health, sanitation, and hygiene for vulnerable communities in Nigeria.
“The local production of pads will increase access and affordability and help address period poverty,” says Evelyn Mere, Country Director, WaterAid Nigeria.
“Through menstrual health education and access to innovative products like Safepad, we empower girls to manage their periods safely and with dignity. This is crucial for unlocking their potential and realizing broader rights and wellbeing.”
Mr. Nnamdi Oji, Director of local partner Namjid.Com Ltd, adds:
“This partnership is not only about improving menstrual health — it's about building local capacity, creating sustainable jobs, and empowering communities to take ownership of production.”
